His Highness The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani met this morning with HE President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas, on the sidelines of the Sixth Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), held in the Republic of Kazakhstan's capital Astana.
During the meeting, the fraternal relations between the two countries and ways to strengthen them were discussed.
HE the Palestinian President briefed HH The Amir on the most recent developments in Palestine, expressing his thanks to HH The Amir for Qatar's firm stance on the Palestinian cause, and the support it provides to the Palestinian people.
They also discussed the latest regional and international issues of common interest, and exchanged views on all topics on the agenda of the CICA Summit.
HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, HE Chief of the Amiri Diwan Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, HE Minister of Transport Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti, HE Minister of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al Thani, and a number of Their Excellencies members of the official delegation attended the meeting.
On the Palestinian side, it was attended by HE Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Hussein Al-Sheikh, HE Minister of Foreign Affairs Riyad Al-Maliki and a number of senior officials.
