His Highness The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani discussed with President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan the latest developments in the region and exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues.
During a meeting held in the Turkish President's residence in New York, the two leaders focused on the Syrian crisis and the plight of the Syrian people amidst the stalled international solutions to put an end to the crisis.
Both sides stressed the importance for the international community to exert more efforts to lift the inhuman suffering and to stop the siege and the forced systematic displacement being perpetrated by the regime against the people. They also stressed the importance of reaching a comprehensive and lasting political solution to end the crisis in Syria in accordance with the Security Council resolutions (2254) and (2268) and Geneva-1 communique.
HH The Amir also reviewed with the Turkish President the strategic relations between the two countries and ways of enhancing them.
A number of Their Excellencies members of the official delegation accompanying HH The Amir attended the meeting. The meeting was also attended by a number of Turkish ministers.
