His Highness The Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani affirmed that his discussions today with HE President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, encompassed various areas of potential cooperation between the two countries as well as the importance of exploring new avenues for collaboration, particularly in the commercial and economic sectors.
This came during joint press remarks delivered by HH The Amir alongside HE President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian following their meeting at the Republican Palace in Tehran. The talks also addressed the pressing challenges facing the region, in addition to key regional and international issues of mutual concern.
HH The Amir highlighted the Palestinian cause as a central point of discussion, stressing the necessity of adhering to the Gaza ceasefire agreement and ensuring that all parties remain committed to implementing its phases. He underscored the significance of delivering humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people in Gaza.
His Highness reaffirmed the State of Qatar's commitment, in coordination with its mediation partners, to the success of the agreement, which serves as a crucial step toward achieving a permanent ceasefire. He noted that the agreement is essential for guaranteeing the unhindered flow of humanitarian assistance, alleviating the suffering of civilians, facilitating reconstruction efforts, and working toward a just and comprehensive resolution. HH The Amir emphasized that the steadfast Palestinian people, who have made immense sacrifices over the decades, will not accept anything less.
As for the Syrian issue, HH The Amir and HE the Iranian President discussed the importance of advancing a comprehensive political process to ensure stability in Syria.
For his part, HE President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian began his remarks by highlighting the strong relations between Qatar and Iran at both the leadership and official levels. He praised the deep-rooted neighborly ties, historical friendship, and constructive communication that bind the two nations.
