God’s peace, blessings and mercy be upon you.
The occasion that has gathered us together is a red-letter day and unparalleled occasion. Is there anything more
prestigious than being shaded under God’s mercy after building a house of God and completing its construction? Is
there anything more sublime or greater than drawing closer to God by worshipping him under the roof of a new
mosque?
We have named this new mosque, which we are honored to inaugurate today, after Sheikh Imam Muhammad Ibin Abdul
Wahhab. The great scholar, competent reformer, and leading renovator for whom we pray to God Al Mighty that
he be among those included in the Prophet’s hadith that “Allah sends to this Ummah at the head of every hundred
years he who renews its religion".
I am confident that this mosque, which has risen from the land of Qatar, as an eternal piece of it, would be a
platform of correction and sincere call for the path of God the Almighty. A path that is devoid of religious
fads and whims, in a way that would enable the mankind in this world to benefit from things that are compatible
with the spirit of this age and that would deliver them in the Hereafter, and which are in line with what would
please God and His Messenger, as it was the case with Sheikh Mohammad Ibin Abdul Wahhab and his call.
The light which has illuminated the path of Sheikh Imam Muhammad Ibin Abdul Wahhab, May God endow his mercy on his
soul, has spread among people around the Arabian Peninsula and brought them back to the righteous path, and guided
them to the proper approach as per the Quran and Sunnah.
Ibin Abdul Wahhab removed the deviations that had confused the minds and the aberrations that had affected the
souls. The Imam Ibin Abdul Wahhab, was a role model due to his personality traits as an ascetic, pious, patient
and far-sighted preacher who was connected with the reality that was going on. Today’s preachers are in need of
all these characteristics.
Our grandfather founder Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani, may God bestow mercy on him, who was a religious
scholar and the ruler at the same time, was among those who were receptive of the call of Sheikh Ibn Abdul Wahhab,
and who adopted and disseminated his call in our country and abroad throughout the Muslim world.
He shouldered, may God's mercy be upon him, the responsibility of spreading the books of the call of Wahhabism and
other books after printing them in India to keep people well-informed of the religion of Allah and the message of
his prophet.
Still to this day we follow in the footsteps of those great ancestors, under the guidance of the Book of Allah and
the Sunnah of His Messenger, peace be upon him.
We will spare no effort to continue carrying the message and spreading the tolerant teachings of Islam in the whole
world. We see that the Ummah is now in need of being renovated and inspired by the resolve and experience of the
call of Wahhabism in a way that complies with the current age and its developments.
Our congregation today to open this mosque and to name it after the Imam Muhammad Ibin Abdul Wahhab, also is
tantamount to honoring the scholars who still carry his thoughts and call, to serve Islam and Muslims.
In conclusion, I and all of you have the honor to open this mosque. I pray to Allah the Almighty to help us keep
this mosque as a platform of light and beacon of guidance at present and in the future.
God’s peace, blessings and mercy be upon you.
